I am a freelance proofreader based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have a particular interest in working with students on PhD theses and masters dissertations, academics on research papers and journal articles, as well as scientific research organisations.
My early career was spent in industrial microbiology research on the detection of food poisoning organisms, and the detection of toxins in the environment.
I have strong business development and project management skills, which have enabled me to initiate and sustain productive commercial partnerships in the Higher Education sector in Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation (KE), and in the promotion of standards Learning and Teaching.
I promoted the accreditation of standards in Learning and Teaching, which enhances world class teaching in higher education. This involves agencies working together to provide strategic advice to the higher education sector, funding bodies and others on policies and practice, that will impact and enhance student experience.
In the KE arena I encouraged academic institutions, and individuals, to form collaborative research projects involving industry, policy and the public to increase the impact of their research. These partnerships lead to the generation of income for all parties involved.
I am an experienced sales and account manager with a track record of success in the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology sectors. I have significant experience in creating sales and business plans, income generation and contract negotiation.
